I'm having an identical problem on a similar SBS2K system with 3 clients. I tried just deleting the library key with the dll file in it, which didn't work. I deleted the whole performance key and that didn't work either. This is clearly not a dangerous error but it is definitely a pain. Any other ideas out there? I checked eventid.net already too.

If
you're sure the error is benign, and you just want it to stop registering in
event viewer, you can use exctrlst.exe to tell it not to monitor the service or
library file. I've used this successfully with an perflib error caused by
Trend, at their instruction.

Yann,
I went in under CurrentControlSet and deleted that
subset. It didn't stop the counter. On Tuesday night,
I did my monthly reboot of the server and when it came
back up the WINS service and the Firewall Service were
down and won't restart. Many error codes in Event
Viewer. Tried to install my backup and it won't go in.
I figure this doesn't have anything to do with the

Yes -
001 is an alternate set of keys - CurrentControlSet as it suggest is the one
currently in use on the system. You need to make all changes in there for
it to be effective.

The eventid.net solution suggests ControlSet001, but the MS Q article says CurrentControlSet.
I have done it with both (I think) & both seemed to work (on different systems)..
Do you feel that you were understanding what the instructions were asking you to do & that you were able to perform each step as requested? Without offending you, I'm just wondering whether you have actually successful

Either way it doesn't seem to make much difference! Solution just doesn't work
I had a similar problem about a month ago, delted the relevant keys, stopped that event appearing for a bit, then it came back and some others. I reckon there is a fundamental flaw in the way performance counter works as this occurs SO often....
MS should look into this a lot more.
