I tried just deleting the library key with the dll file in it, which didn't work. I deleted the whole performance key and that didn't work either. This is clearly not a dangerous error but it is definitely a pain. Any other ideas out there? It didn't stop the counter. On Tuesday night, I did my monthly reboot of the server and when it came back up the WINS service and the Firewall Service were down and won't restart. I reckon there is a fundamental flaw in the way performance counter works as this occurs SO often....
